WBHS – Artificial Turf and Track Resurfacing
GNI was instrumental in working with Roanoke County Schools on a design-build project for the installation of an artificial turf surface for the main playing field at William Byrd High School as well as upgrading the asphalt running track to a Beynon latex-rubber surface.
Augusta County Schools – Cassell ES and Riverheads ES
GNI provided civil engineering services for the new Hugh K. Cassell Elementary School and Riverheads Elementary School in Augusta County including coordinating with offsite water and sewer extensions and detailed phasing planning as the new Cassell ES was constructed on the existing school site while in session.
Meadow View Elementary School
GNI worked closely with the lead architect, RRMM, to walk Henry County Public Schools through the process of selecting a new site for the new elementary school and providing civil design services for school site which also included highway widening and turn-lane design, an off-site sanitary sewer main extension, and environmental permitting coordination.
Christiansburg High School Athletics Improvements
GNI worked with Montgomery County Public Schools, 5 Design, Prosim Engineering, and Lawrence Perry & Associates to deliver a three-phased design-built project for extensive athletics improvements at Christiansburg High School including a new artificial turf field to replace their existing natural turf field, removal and replacement of the existing asphalt track with a Beynon latex-rubberized surface, a new artificial turf competition softball field with Musco lighting, a new concession stand, bathroom facilities, and ticket booth for the baseball/softball facilities, and a future new field house and concessions building for the football and track stadium.
Masons Cove Elementary School
GNI served as the site design firm for the design of the Masons Cove Elementary School which required extensive phasing efforts as the school was constructed on the existing school site while school was in session and also included sustainable LEED site features such as permeable brick pavers and a new water treatment plant for the existing well.
Blacksburg High School
GNI served as the civil design firm with SHW and Branch & Associates on the PPEA for the Blacksburg High School project which included site design for the new 300,000 gross square foot school building and extensive athletics improvements including a competition baseball field, competition softball field, a new Beynon latex-rubberized surface track, three (3) multi-purpose play fields, track and field events and six competition tennis courts. In addition, GNI assisted in the design of the new entrance road, Bruin Lane, and traffic signal on Prices Fork Road which included revenue sharing with VDOT.
